United Infrastructure is looking for a skilled and motivated Electrical Engineer to join our Energy business. You will support the safe and successful delivery of electrical engineering works across DNO, ICP and wider energy infrastructure projects.
This is a hands‑on role working across LV and HV electrical infrastructure, including substations, switchgear, transformers, feeder pillars and associated cabling. You will work closely with project managers, site teams, civil engineers and external stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required technical standards.
Key responsibilities
- Provide electrical engineering support across Energy projects.
- Undertake and support installation, testing, commissioning and maintenance activities.
- Work with LV and HV systems, substations, switchgear, transformers and associated cabling.
- Interpret electrical drawings, schematics and technical specifications.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical faults.
- Ensure works comply with relevant DNO/ICP standards, G81 requirements and electrical safety procedures.
- Prepare and maintain test results, inspection records and technical documentation.
- Support energisation, commissioning and project handover activities.
- Work collaboratively with project managers, site supervisors, civil engineers, subcontractors, DNOs, ICPs and clients.
- Follow RAMS, permits, isolation procedures and United Infrastructure's HSQE requirements.
- Identify and challenge unsafe working practices and contribute to a strong safety culture.
About you
You'll ideally have:
- Proven experience in electrical engineering within utility, energy or infrastructure projects.
- Experience working on DNO and/or ICP projects.
- Knowledge of LV/HV distribution networks and substations.
- Experience in electrical installation, testing, commissioning and fault‑finding.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and specifications.
- Good understanding of electrical safety and compliance requirements.
- Relevant electrical authorisations/training, such as HV/LV or AP/SAP, where appropriate.
- ECS/CSCS certification or willingness to obtain it.
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites where required.
