We are looking for Apprentice/Trainee Quantity Surveyors to join our Water division who are a national provider of infrastructure and non-infrastructure water and wastewater services to UK water utility companies. Day to day, you will support the commercial team and assist the Quantity Surveyors who estimate and control costs for our construction projects, working with both internal colleagues and our clients at every stage of the project.
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and issuing subcontract enquiries and trade packages.
- Assessing and comparing subcontractors quotes and drafting orders.
- Preparing monthly reports.
- Evaluating materials on site and labour time records.
- Paying invoices through the finance system and preparing subcontractor final accounts.
As a Trainee with United Infrastructure, you’ll be given a real job from day one where you will gain hands-on industry experience and the knowledge required to achieve a nationally recognised qualification. In order to fully develop in your role, you will be enrolled onto the Level 6 Chartered Surveyor – QS Pathway apprenticeship qualification with our training partner the University of the Built Environment. This learning pathway is delivered entirely remotely, and you will access online self-accessed or virtually delivered classroom sessions, and one-to-one support from your tutor or coach.
Academic Entry Requirements:
- Pathway 1 – BSc Quantity Surveying: Completed a relevant Level 3 or 4 programme e.g. L3 T-Level Design, Surveying Planning or L3 BTEC Construction and the Built Environment, Level 3 Construction Support Technician, L4 Construction Quantity Surveying Technician Apprenticeship; 5 GCSEs at Grade 9-4/A*-C including English and Mathematics; Good IT skills and able to use Microsoft Office packages, particularly Excel; Good organisation, time management and communication skills; Awareness of NEC contracts.
- Pathway 2 – MSc Quantity Surveying: Bachelor’s degree with a minimum 2.2 grade in a construction related subject; 5 GCSEs at Grade 9-4/A*-C including English and Mathematics; Good IT skills and able to use Microsoft Office packages, particularly Excel; Good organisation, time management and communication skills; Awareness of NEC contracts.
You must also have the commitment to live and breathe our company values during your work and studies, and the motivation and dedication to successfully complete your apprenticeship programme. Please note, as this is an apprenticeship programme, in order to be eligible to apply you must not already have an equivalent level or higher qualification in the occupational area, or significant work experience.
Upon successful completion of your programme, you will achieve:
- Level 6 Chartered Surveyor (Degree) Apprenticeship.
- BSc (Hons) or MSc Quantity Surveying.
- Eligible for chartered membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS).
