My very busy well-established manufacturing clients are now recruiting a Quality Inspector. They are an excellent well run family business. 8am-4.30pm Monday-Thursday. 8am -1pm Friday 37 hours per week Hourly rate £13.80-£14.55

Missions: To support the effective operation of the ISO 9001 Quality Management System by performing routine inspections and checks, ensuring that materials and manufactured products meet defined requirements before release to the next process or customer, and preventing the unintended release of nonconforming materials or products.

Objectives:

  • Support compliance with ISO 9001 requirements related to product conformity
  • Identify non-conforming materials or products
  • Ensure inspection results are accurately recorded and traceable
  • Take “Usage Decisions” to Release, Quarantine or Reject materials or products
  • Master and perform Test and Calibration methods as required to support taking usage decisions
  • Perform investigations and record findings of non-conforming products
  • To carry out quality audits in line with the approved audit plan and schedule

Key Tasks:

  • Perform inspection of incoming materials and documentation where required
  • Perform first article inspection of daily production lots, recording findings
  • Conduct inspections and record findings of ongoing production as required by the nature of the process. Eg: Realtime, Stage inspections, Hourly, Postproduction samples review
  • Take and record usage decisions to release products by signing/stamping Inspection records and/or Certificate of Conformance; or to reject materials/products using the non-conformance process as necessary.
  • Carry out the non-conformance process:
    • Containing the issue by identifying the start and end of the non-conformance
    • Isolating the issue by quarantining affected items
    • Investigating by obtaining related data of production, inspection and inventory.
    • Take a quality decision regarding the designation of usable status
    • Propose remediation actions
    • Identify Root Cause and Corrective actions.
  • Undertake additional testing as required to support taking usage decisions, e.g.: Sessel test, flex test, etc.
  • Carry out Customer Complaint Record investigations including root cause determination and creation of corrective action plan, through to documented closure.
  • Manage / execute recalibration of equipment before expiry periods
  • Be available and flexible to carry out tasks as necessary to support any general business operations.

Key capabilities/Requirements:

  • ISO9001 and quality inspection experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Technically minded having a knowledge of plastics manufacturing
  • Highly numerate and able to interpret tolerances technical drawings
  • A mastery of MS Office suite tools especially Excel
  • Clean Driving license and willing to drive company vehicles
  • Understand and practice Lean Manufacturing principles
  • TQM or Six Sigma knowledge to Yellow Belt level
