Job Purpose
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic League Manager / Football Coach to lead the delivery, organisation, and coaching of football programmes in the St Albans area. The role will involve managing local league activity, delivering high-quality coaching sessions, and supporting the development of players across grassroots and development football environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and structured football coaching sessions across designated age groups and ability levels
- Set up and pack down equipment
- Manage and coordinate local league fixtures, ensuring smooth organisation and communication with teams, parents, and venues
- Support player development through positive coaching, feedback, and progression opportunities
- Plan and prepare coaching sessions in line with development principles and programme objectives
- Build strong relationships with players, parents, schools, and local community partners
- Ensure all sessions are delivered in a safe, inclusive, and positive environment
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, fixtures, and player progress where required
- Act as the main point of contact for league operations in the St Albans area
- Be available for Sunday league home and away games from kick off timings ranging from 9am - 2pm.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum FA Level 1 Coaching Qualification (UEFA C desirable or working towards)
- Valid UK Driving Licence
- Access to a reliable vehicle (essential due to travel between venues)
- Experience working in grassroots or youth football environments
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Ability to manage groups of children and young people in a positive and safe manner
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain)
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child welfare in sport
