UCG attracts students from across London and beyond. Our students come from a diverse range of backgrounds. In the academic year 2022-23, we enrolled more than 3500 full time 16-18 students, 8,000 adult learners and over 450 apprentices across our Group. UCG currently enrol 250+ HE students per year, across 4 campuses onto 12 courses from STEM subjects (Science, Construction, Engineering, and Computing) to Business, Music and Professional Qualifications. We have around 1,000 dedicated, skilled and enthusiastic staff who always put the needs of our students first.

About You

The Industry Skills Tutor will manage a caseload of apprentices by monitoring attendance, progression, achievement and completion, organising pastoral support as required and by working with all parties involved to resolve any issues that may affect successful completion of the programmes. The Industry Skills Tutor will coordinate achievement of all aspects of apprenticeship standards or frameworks, to include quality assurance where appropriate, ensuring learners achieve on time, and in-line with college targets.

The successful applicants will develop individual action plans including the setting of smart targets tailored to meet apprentices’ needs while maintaining accurate records in line with the College requirements.

The Industry Skills Tutor will:

  • Hold a relevant vocational qualification at or above level 3 and hold an Assessor award and IQA award
  • Have relevant up-to-date industrial/subject knowledge and a knowledge of industry and employment opportunities
  • Have a knowledge of Ofsted and apprenticeship and AEB funding
  • Have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Have excellent organisational and administrative skills and be able to manage and organise priorities, working as part of a team to ensure quality of provision and timely and overall successful outcomes
  • Commitment to and enthusiasm for delivering an excellent customer service demonstrating problem-solving attributes for apprentices, employers and other key stakeholders

The nature of this post means that the post holder will need to travel to all the College campuses and to other external venues.
