MERITUS are recruiting for a Transducer Test Engineer to join our client in Yateley in a permanent position.
TRANSDUCER TEST ENGINEER - 35,000 PER ANNUM - YATELEY, HAMPSHIRE (HYBRID) - Sector: Marine / Defence
You will support the testing, validation, and performance analysis of underwater acoustic transducers, ensuring products meet required acoustic, electrical, and environmental standards. This role is critical in maintaining product quality, supporting new product development, and driving improvements through data‑driven analysis and structured testing methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-air and in-water acoustic and electrical testing of transducer systems
- Analyse test data and produce clear technical reports, including root cause analysis and recommendations
- Use specialist lab equipment to measure:
- Sound pressure levels
- Frequency response
- Noise and vibration characteristics
- Develop and execute test procedures aligned to acoustic and environmental standards
- Support ongoing improvement of existing products and calibration systems
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify and implement process improvements
- Contribute to the evaluation of new transducer concepts and prototype designs
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and certification requirements
- Communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Essential Experience
- Experience in testing, validation, or quality-focused engineering environments
- Strong attention to detail with a structured, problem‑solving mindset
- Ability to analyse data and produce clear, technical documentation
- Degree in Physics, Engineering, Mathematics, or similar
Desirable Experience
- Exposure to underwater acoustics or transducer systems
- Understanding of acoustic measurement techniques and signal behaviour
- Experience with lab-based testing equipment and instrumentation
- Practical experience in prototype assembly, testing, or electromechanical systems
- Experience developing test tools, scripts, or lab software
