Role Overview

We are recruiting an experienced and driven Performance Team Leader to lead a team of Employment / Work Coaches delivering on the Restart programme in Worthing. As a Performance Team Leader, you will be responsible for driving team performance, quality standards and participant outcomes across the contract. You will lead from the front, managing team capability while also maintaining a small caseload, ensuring participants receive high-quality, tailored support to achieve sustainable employment. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong coaching, performance management and stakeholder awareness, ideal for someone who thrives in a target-driven, customer-focused environment and is passionate about making a measurable impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Performance Management
    • Lead, motivate and develop a team of Work Coaches to drive performance and quality outcomes
    • Deliver against agreed KPIs, performance and service delivery targets
    • Conduct regular caseload and performance reviews to improve team capability
    • Support underperforming team members through coaching, guidance and intervention
    • Lead by example to inspire a high-performance, outcome-focused culture
  • Participant & Delivery Support
    • Manage a personal caseload of participants and support them into sustainable employment
    • Ensure all participants receive consistent, high-quality support aligned to programme expectations
    • Support the team to remove barriers to employment and achieve positive outcomes
    • Identify and promote suitable employment opportunities for participants
  • Quality, Compliance & Customer Experience
    • Ensure all participant records, documentation and systems are maintained accurately
    • Maintain strong customer service standards across the team
    • Ensure delivery meets quality, compliance and audit expectations
    • Support preparation for contract reviews and performance reporting
  • Stakeholder & Labour Market Awareness
    • Maintain a strong understanding of the local labour market and employer demand
    • Support vacancy identification and employer engagement activity
    • Work collaboratively with internal teams and stakeholders to maximise outcomes

Essential Criteria

  • Proven experience managing a team in a target-driven, customer-focused environment
  • Strong leadership, coaching and performance management capability
  • Experience working within employability, welfare-to-work or similar sectors
  • Ability to drive performance against KPIs and operational targets
  • Strong communication, influencing and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Good understanding of employment legislation and equality, diversity and inclusion
  • Ability to interpret performance data and understand financial drivers

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience delivering on the Restart programme or similar DWP-funded contracts
  • Knowledge of the local labour market
  • Level 5 qualification in Leadership & Management (or equivalent)
