A brand-new specialist education setting is opening in Autumn 2026, and we are seeking a skilled and proactive Lead Maintenance Technician to play a key role in preparing and maintaining the site from the very beginning. This exciting new provision will support children and young people aged 5-19 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, creating a safe, nurturing and aspirational environment where every learner can thrive.
The Role
Reporting to the School Business Manager, you will take responsibility for the maintenance, safety, and presentation of the school buildings and grounds. You will ensure the site remains compliant, secure, and fit for purpose for both pupils and staff.
Key responsibilities include:
- Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance
- Conducting site inspections and health & safety checks
- Managing external contractors and monitoring works completed
- Maintaining accurate maintenance and compliance records
- Responding promptly to emergencies and site issues
- Supporting a safe, clean, and welcoming environment across the school
About You
We are looking for someone with excellent practical skills, a strong work ethic, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. You will ideally have:
- General maintenance experience including basic joinery and plumbing
- Knowledge of hot and cold water systems
- Understanding of health & safety regulations and compliance requirements
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks independently
- Good communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships
- A full driving licence and flexibility to support occasional emergency call‑outs
