New Senior Quantity Surveyor Position
Contract type: Permanent
Location: Weymouth, Dorset
Salary: up to £75,000 (DOE)
The company: A well established national main contractor delivering refurbishment and new build schemes procured through design & build contracts. Projects range from minor £2m schemes up to £20m contracts.
The role: We are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in main contracting with proven experience in managing the commercial delivery of design and build projects. Working within the project team based on site, your responsibilities as Senior Quantity Surveyor may include:
- Managing the commercial aspects of projects up to £20 million in value.
- Supporting the pre-construction team in preparing tender documents, contracts and procurement schedules to support driving PCSA activities.
- Full management of accounts, including procurement, placing orders, payments and final accounting.
- Assessing subcontractor progress and budget compliance.
- Undertaking valuations and client variations.
- Producing accurate internal and external financial reports, forecasts and liabilities.
- Supervising, supporting and mentoring junior team members.
- Identifying opportunities to maximise value and reduce costs.
- Highlighting risks and developing mitigation strategies.
- Advising on contractual claims and disputes throughout the project lifecycle.
About you:
- Proven experience as a Lead Quantity Surveyor on projects valued at £10m+.
- Demonstrable expertise in package procurement and management across high-value, complex scopes.
- Proficiency with JCT contracts.
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline or RICS accredited.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proactive, commercially focused mindset with a keen eye for detail and risk.
- Excellent negotiation skills.
- Comfortable working on your own initiative.
