Our Infrastructure team plays a vital role in ensuring the network remains safe, efficient, and welcoming for all passengers.

We are now recruiting for an experienced Infrastructure Overhead Line (OLE) Supervisor to lead maintenance, inspection and fault‑response activities across the West Midlands Metro network. This is a critical leadership role within a safety‑critical electric railway environment, ensuring high‑quality OLE performance and full compliance with engineering standards, isolation procedures and operational requirements.

You will act as the on‑site technical authority, providing clear leadership to OLE teams, coordinating worksites, managing isolations and supporting the OLE Team Leader in achieving asset reliability, compliance and continuous improvement goals.

As our Civils Drainage Supervisor, you will:

  • Plan and coordinate OLE inspections, maintenance and fault‑response activities across the network.
  • Act as Person in Charge (PIC/PICOP) and Authorised Person (AP) for isolations within agreed competency.
  • Lead on‑site OLE works, ensuring full compliance with RAMS, isolation plans, safety procedures and engineering tolerances.
  • Oversee works on contact wire systems, tension devices, section insulators, support structures and fittings.
  • Verify electrical isolations, carry out compliance checks and ensure accurate measurement of wire height, stagger and wear.
  • Lead fault‑finding, repairs and adjustments to restore system integrity safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate OLE inspection and maintenance records within the Agility system.
  • Supervise and develop OLE Technicians, Team Members and Apprentices, promoting high safety and technical standards.
  • Oversee contractor activities and verify workmanship and compliance prior to returning assets to service.
  • Support commissioning, upgrades and project works affecting overhead line assets.
  • Deputise for the OLE Team Leader when required.

About You

You’ll be an experienced engineering professional with strong leadership capability and a passion for safety and reliability. You take ownership, stay calm under pressure, and enjoy helping others deliver their best work.

In order to be successful in this role you will need:

  • Supervisory experience in rail or light‑rail OLE environments.
  • Experience in safety‑critical operational settings.
  • Experience supervising electrical isolations and OLE maintenance.
  • Understanding of engineering tolerances and technical measurement techniques.
  • GCSE Maths & English (or equivalent)
  • Level 3 Mechanical or Electrical qualification
  • ILM Level 3 (or working towards)

It would be great if you had:

  • MEWP operation or MEWP‑based OLE activity.
  • Emergency OLE fault response.
  • IOSH Managing Safely (or equivalent)
