About the Role
As a Meter Reader you will be responsible for collecting data from gas, electricity and water meters for both commercial and residential properties. You will update meter reads accurately throughout the day on a handheld device, provide excellent customer service at each location, and ensure all data is entered correctly.
What We Offer
- £13.23 per hour basic pay (weekly payment)
- 15–20 hours per week with flexible start and finish times Monday to Friday (occasionally Saturday) between 8 am and 8 pm.
- Annual earnings £10,000–£14,000 including bonuses.
- Bonus scheme with earnings up to £2,000 monthly.
- Business expenses reimbursed.

Requirements
- UK driving licence – at least 1 year, no more than 6 points, no DR offences (driving licence is not required in some London areas).
- Physically fit and able to bend in tight spaces, lift or kneel, climb stairs, crouch, and walk 4–5 miles a day.
- Comfortable working in all weather conditions.
- Clear DBS check (no unspent criminal convictions).
- Credit report check (no county court judgments, IVA, debt relief orders recorded for the last 6 years).
- Minimum 5 years of employment history.
- Previous customer-service experience preferred.
Duties
- Retrieve data from domestic, commercial and industrial sites for water, gas and electric meters (full training will be given).
- Carry out visual inspections of associated metering equipment.
- Conduct charge-point surveys.
- Work independently with drive and motivation.
- Maintain a friendly, professional approach to all customers.
- Adhere to health and safety guidelines at all times.
Training
Training is one week long, combining classroom instruction and field work with an experienced meter reader to give a comprehensive view of the role.
