Hours are 06.00-17.00 with the occasional Saturday.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Fleet and Plant Maintenance Engineer to join our team. This is a critical role responsible for the maintenance, repair, and operational efficiency of our fleet of Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) and our state‑of‑the‑art Aggregate Wash Plant.

Key Responsibilities
  • HGV Fleet Maintenance: Perform routine servicing, inspections, and preventative maintenance on our diverse fleet of HGVs (e.g., skips, roll‑on‑offs, tippers) to ensure compliance with all regulatory standards (e.g., DVSA, operator licensing). Diagnose, repair, and overhaul mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults across the fleet. Manage vehicle documentation, maintenance records, and parts inventory. Conduct pre‑MOT inspections and prepare vehicles for mandatory testing.
  • Aggregate Wash Plant Maintenance: Perform scheduled maintenance and emergency repairs on the wash plant, including crushers, screens, conveyors, pumps, and associated mechanical and electrical systems. Proactively identify potential equipment failures and implement corrective actions to minimise downtime. Liaise with external contractors for specialist repairs or services when necessary.
  • General: Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with company Health & Safety policies and procedures. Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment. Order, track, and manage all necessary parts and consumables efficiently. Communicate effectively with the Transport and Operations teams regarding vehicle and plant availability and repair schedules.
Essential Requirements
  • Fully Qualified HGV Mechanic: Must possess a recognised and relevant qualification (e.g., City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 in HGV Repair and Maintenance or equivalent).
  • Previous Experience: Demonstrable, hands‑on experience in the maintenance and repair of HGVs and Heavy Plant/Quarry/Recycling equipment.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Proven diagnostic and problem‑solving skills across mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Strong commitment to safety and high standards of workmanship.
Desirable Attributes
  • HGV Class 1 (C+E) or Class 2 (C) Driving Licence is highly desirable.
  • Experience welding and fabrication.
  • Knowledge of waste management, quarrying, or recycling environments.
