We are currently recruiting on behalf of a growing organisation within the surfacing and infrastructure sector, who are looking to appoint a Transport Supervisor to support their expanding operations. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced transport or logistics professional looking to step into a supervisory role with clear progression into Transport Management.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Transport Manager, you will play a key role in supervising transport operations at the main depot in Redditch, whilst also providing remote support across three additional sites. This is a fast-paced and varied role that requires strong organisational skills, adaptability and the ability to respond to live operational demands.
Key Responsibilities
- Planning & Operations
- Support the development and implementation of operational transport policies and procedures
- Assist with planning and coordinating daily transport activities
- Ensure efficient allocation of drivers, vehicles and resources
- Driver & Fleet Management
- Act as a key point of contact for drivers, providing daily coordination and support
- Assist with scheduling vehicle inspections, servicing, maintenance and repairs
- Liaise with external maintenance providers to ensure fleet reliability
- Compliance & Safety
- Ensure transport operations meet regulatory and safety requirements
- Maintain compliance with industry standards and company procedures
- Performance & Cost Control
- Monitor transport costs and identify cost-saving opportunities
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and implementation of best practice processes
- Assist in maintaining service quality and operational efficiency
- Operational Support
- Respond to live transport issues including breakdowns, scheduling conflicts and operational disruptions
- Deputise for the Transport Manager when required
Skills & Experience Required
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a transport, logistics or fleet supervisory role
- Strong understanding of fast-paced transport operations
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
- Confident multitasker with strong attention to detail
- Good IT skills and experience using transport management systems
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
