Trainee Legal Secretary in Edinburgh City Centre. Fully office-based role. Permanent role with full-time hours, Monday to Friday. Salary up to £26,000 per annum + benefits (depending on experience).

Search Consultancy is delighted to be working exclusively with a leading law firm based in Edinburgh City Centre to recruit this brand new permanent role within their team following a promotion. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive administration and secretarial support to a number of partners and associates within their Private Client team. This role would ideally suit a candidate with prior administration experience (preferably from within the legal or professional services industry) who is looking for their next move into a role where they can learn and progress with a true industry leader!

Duties involved in this role will include:

  • Completion of legal documentation, forms and correspondence on instruction from fee earners in a timely fashion.
  • Carrying out copy and audio-typing of correspondence and legal documentation as required.
  • Dealing with confidential Private Client documentation including Powers of Attorney, Wills and Deeds.
  • Handling incoming calls to the department, dealing with initial queries, taking and passing on messages, and referring calls to the appropriate person if required.
  • Ensuring that client files and the internal client system are accurately updated following any contact.
  • Various other administration and secretarial work as directed by the Support Manager and Partners.

In order to be considered for this role, your skills and experience should include:

  • Previous experience within an administration role is essential. Candidates with prior legal administration experience would be at a distinct advantage.
  • Solid organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise a busy workload effectively.
  • First-class communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to show empathy when dealing with sensitive situations.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
