Role Overview: An interim finance role in Devon. The organisation is a well‑established, multi‑site provider of essential services within a regulated environment. The finance function is small and agile, playing a key role in day‑to‑day operations and decision‑making. It values accuracy, accountability and teamwork. The role is up to six months, full time onsite, at up to £24 per hour.
Responsibilities:
- Reporting to the Finance Director, this hands‑on role includes:
- Preparing timely monthly balance sheet reconciliations in line with deadlines
- Proposing and implementing process improvements, particularly around reconciliations and reporting
- Supporting the month‑end close process (accruals, pre‑payments, fixed assets and depreciation journals)
- Assisting with month‑end financial reporting
- Managing sales ledger processes (invoicing, credit notes, cash posting)
- Performing customer account reconciliations and chasing outstanding debt via calls, statements and letters
- Resolving customer queries promptly
- Checking and processing weekly timesheets
- Supporting weekly payroll processing
- Improving finance processes, procedures and controls
- Providing coverage across the wider finance team as required
Requirements:
- Fully qualified AAT or part‑qualified ACCA/CIMA
- Minimum two years’ experience in a Finance Analyst or similar role
- Strong IT skills, including financial systems, Excel and Office365
- Solid experience in double‑entry bookkeeping and account reconciliations
- Strong communication skills, able to influence and build relationships
- Highly numerate, analytical and detail‑driven
- Ability to work effectively in a busy office with changing priorities
- Well‑organised, self‑motivated, ability to meet fixed deadlines
