We are looking for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to support primary and secondary aged students with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and complex needs. Experience is desirable, can be personal or professional experience.
This specialist setting in Tonbridge supports pupils aged 4-19 who require a highly adapted, individualised curriculum to help them thrive and reach their full potential. The school focuses on sensory learning, communication development, and life skills in a nurturing and inclusive environment.
This Learning Support Assistant role is an excellent opportunity to work closely and network with other teams of professionals, gaining relevant experience while expanding your knowledge and skillset. This role will give you essential experience within a challenging yet rewarding setting; career progression routes include SEN Teacher, Speech and Language Therapist, Occupational Therapist, and various Child Psychology pathways.
Job Role and Responsibilities:
- Assist the class teacher in providing tailored learning experiences for students.
- Support students with PMLD through sensory-based and communication-led activities.
- Provide personal care and mobility support where required.
- Behaviour and pastoral support.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with students.
- Take a practical approach to meet the individual needs of students.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Show caring, compassion, and listening ability.
- Willing to work 1:1 and in small groups with students.
- Ensure safeguarding of students.
- Attend staff meetings and complete appropriate CPD.
Employment Details:
- Start date ASAP; trial days will be arranged to ensure the role and school is right for you.
- Excellent on-site training, support and CPD is provided to ensure safeguarding of all students.
- £92.56 per day, Mon‑Fri, 08:30 to 15:30, PAYE, term time only.
- No previous experience is required. Degrees in Psychology, Criminology, Health & Social Care are an excellent use of your degree.
- You must have the right to work in the UK; no visa sponsorship.
All applicants will be subject to a full face‑to‑face registration and an Enhanced DBS (formerly known as CRB) as part of safeguarding and promotion of the welfare of children.
