We are recruiting for an experienced Ocean Freight Forwarding Coordinator to join a well-established freight forwarding business based in Wednesbury. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong ocean freight experience who is confident managing import bookings, liaising with overseas agents and co-loaders, and keeping customers updated throughout the full shipment process. The role would suit an experienced Freight Forwarder, Ocean Freight Operator, Import Coordinator, Sea Freight Coordinator or Freight Operations Coordinator looking for a permanent role with a competitive salary and additional benefits.

The Role
As an Ocean Freight Forwarding Coordinator, you will be responsible for managing ocean freight import bookings from start to finish. You will work closely with customers, suppliers, overseas agents, co-loaders and customs clearance agents to ensure shipments are handled accurately and efficiently. You will be joining a busy operations team, so strong organisation, attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, process and manage ocean freight import bookings within agreed timeframes
- Handle FCL and LCL import shipments
- Liaise with co-loaders and overseas agents to arrange shipments
- Enter new bookings accurately onto the company system, BoxTop
- Send booking confirmations to suppliers and clients
- Track shipments and monitor import ETAs
- Keep customers updated throughout the full shipment process
- Identify and resolve issues, including vessel delays and potential shipment problems
- Source alternative options where required
- Manage cross-trade bookings when needed
- Send customs clearance templates to the import clearance agent before UK arrival
- Ensure customs clearance is arranged correctly on behalf of the company
- Close jobs once completed to customer satisfaction
- Maintain accurate data and ensure all information is entered within required timescales
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years' experience within freight forwarding
- Ocean freight experience is essential
- Good knowledge of FCL and LCL shipments
- Import operations experience would be highly beneficial
- Experience using BoxTop would be advantageous
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Good problem-solving and negotiation skills
- Strong planning and organisational ability
- High level of attention to detail
- Able to work well in a fast-paced environment
- Confident working independently and as part of a team
