Niche Education Ltd are looking for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to work in SEN schools across the Teesside area. A successful candidate will have worked as a teaching assistant in a school before or have relevant SEN experience in either healthcare or another sector which they can transfer over to an education setting. The schools are specialist providers for children with special educational needs. Children who attend these schools will usually have a Statement of Educational Need or an Education, Health and Care Plans.
The schools are looking for enthusiastic, dynamic and resourceful individuals to join a dedicated and hardworking team of specialised support staff. They are looking for people who will enjoy being effective in supporting students with complex needs and who have an appreciation of the positive attitude required to encourage independence in their students.
The ideal candidate will:
- Be a qualified teaching assistant or have the transferable skills needed
- Have worked with children or young adults with special needs before
- Be able to engage with children or young adults and enforce positive behaviour
- Be able to challenge children or young adults when they display negative behaviour
- Be able to build a strong, respectful rapport with children or young adults with SEND
- Be resilient and able to remain calm under stressful situations
- Have exceptionally good communication skills
- Be responsive, flexible and sensitive to the differing needs of pupils
