Carmichael UK is seeking an experienced Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) to join a major, long-term infrastructure project based at the Devonport Docks Project in Plymouth. Working as part of the engineering team, you will take full responsibility for the coordination, management, and implementation of all Temporary Works across the project lifecycle. This is a key position on a high-profile scheme within a highly regulated environment. This role is night shift-based, offering a 30% uplift on standard rates. Due to the nature of the site, security clearance (BPSS) is required and must be successfully obtained prior to starting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all Temporary Works activities across site teams and design functions
  • Review Temporary Works design briefs to ensure suitability prior to submission
  • Manage submissions through design, checking, approval, implementation, and dismantling
  • Liaise with internal teams, supply chain partners, and external designers
  • Ensure Temporary Works are implemented safely and in line with approved designs
  • Carry out site inspections and issue Temporary Works permits
  • Support and coordinate Temporary Works Supervisors
  • Promote and maintain high standards of health, safety, environmental and quality compliance
  • Identify and manage risks associated with Temporary Works
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant procedures, policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Provide mentoring and support to less experienced team members

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years experience as a Temporary Works Coordinator on heavy civils or construction projects
  • Strong knowledge of Temporary Works procedures and management systems
  • Experience delivering major infrastructure or complex engineering projects
  • Background in reinforced concrete, formwork, and falsework schemes
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and design interfaces
  • Ideally experience within highly regulated environments (e.g. nuclear, defence, or similar)
  • Engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree) desirable
  • Working towards or holding professional membership (ICE, IStructE or similar) advantageous

Security & Eligibility

  • Must be eligible for BPSS clearance (application process required)
  • Typically requires UK residency history and appropriate right-to-work status
