TeacherActive is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant with Special Needs Experience to join a supportive school environment in Newton Abbot. This role requires a proactive individual with a passion for supporting children with additional needs, particularly those stemming from trauma and social-emotional mental health challenges.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the classroom teacher in providing tailored support for students with special educational needs (SEN).
- Work closely with children who have additional needs, particularly those affected by trauma and social-emotional difficulties.
- Create a nurturing and safe environment that fosters emotional and academic development.
- Support children with behavioural needs and implement strategies to support positive learning experiences.
- Foster strong communication with parents and other staff members to ensure the best outcomes for students.
- Previous experience supporting children with special needs, particularly those with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties.
- Ability to work effectively in a classroom setting and provide 1:1 or group support as needed.
- Must drive and have access to your own car.
- Passionate, patient, and empathetic approach to working with vulnerable children.
- Ability to manage challenging behaviour and implement appropriate strategies.
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
- Registration may involve an enhanced DBS check, ID checks, and supply of professional references.
Salary £95 - £105 per day, depending on experience.
