My client is working at the heart of the UK's energy industry, driving innovation and delivery across major Power Grid projects nationwide. As part of their Electrical Engineering team, you'll play a key role in shaping the future of Transmission and Distribution networks - working on critical infrastructure projects that keep the lights on across the UK.
You'll collaborate closely with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary teams, sometimes from client sites and sometimes from one of their modern offices. Building strong, trusted relationships will be central to your success, as will your ability to understand client needs and help convert opportunities into successful project outcomes.
The Role
- Lead and support FEED and detailed design work for major transmission-scale projects.
- Actively contribute to business development, identifying opportunities and supporting strategic growth.
- Prepare bids and proposals, including technical input, resource planning, and cost estimation.
- Work closely with commercial and project management teams to develop competitive, client-focused solutions.
- Provide guidance and training to junior engineers.
- Coordinate with other disciplines (Primary, Civil & Structural, PM), sub-contractors and suppliers.
- Attend site visits, FAT and SAT as required.
About You
- HND or Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- Working towards Chartered Engineer status (IET or equivalent).
- Proven experience in Protection & Control design for UK substations (National Grid, SSEN, Scottish Power etc).
- Strong knowledge of electrical codes and standards (IEC, IEEE).
- Experience preparing bids and cost estimates for FEED and detailed design projects.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to prioritise effectively under pressure.
- Commissioning experience on transmission or EHV projects is desirable.
