Structural Engineering Technician Location: Derby

Package: 35k - 45k, hybrid working (2-3 days in the office), pension, healthcare and other benefits

Responsibilities

You will work on projects for clients across the East Midlands and throughout the UK, covering a wide range of sectors including education, healthcare, industrial, commercial, and residential developments. Project types range from small housing schemes to multi‑storey structures, with construction values from approximately 250,000 to 30M. Many projects are delivered to BIM Level 2 standards.

Experience

This role is suited to Structural Technicians with a minimum of three years' experience. A working knowledge of AutoCAD is essential, and experience with Revit would be advantageous but is not essential. You will be involved in the design and detailing of structures using common construction materials including steel, timber, masonry, and reinforced concrete. A good understanding of geotechnical engineering principles is also required. The team uses industry-standard software, including Autodesk Revit and Autodesk AutoCAD.

Education and Skills

Candidates should possess strong analytical skills and be qualified to OND level in a related discipline or higher. Personal qualities are equally important. You should demonstrate a strong team ethic, be self‑motivated when working independently, and be willing to support and guide less experienced team members. Support is available to help the successful candidate achieve membership of relevant professional institutions where required, along with mentoring and training towards further qualifications such as HNC or degree level study, and professional membership with institutions such as ICE or IStructE.
