An established and well‑known UK organisation is looking to appoint a Senior BI Developer to join its Business Intelligence team. This is an opportunity to play a key role in developing and expanding a growing Power BI capability. The business has a long‑standing BI environment and is now investing in modern reporting, giving you the chance to influence standards, shape best practice and drive adoption across the organisation.

Role

You will be responsible for delivering high quality, end‑to‑end BI solutions using Power BI. This includes designing, building and maintaining dashboards that support business decision making. You will work closely with stakeholders across the organisation, translating requirements into meaningful visual outputs, while ensuring data quality, performance and scalability throughout.

Key responsibilities

  • Designing and developing interactive Power BI dashboards and reports
  • Managing the full lifecycle of BI development from requirements through to deployment
  • Building robust data models using DAX, Power Query and M
  • Ensuring strong governance through testing, documentation and version control
  • Working with multiple data sources including SQL databases, cloud platforms and APIs
  • Engaging with stakeholders to gather requirements and present insights
  • Providing user training and guidance on dashboards and reporting tools

Environment

You will be part of a central BI team supporting a large and varied business. Reporting is primarily focused on operational performance, including areas such as sales and stock. The organisation is at an early stage in its Power BI journey, so there is a real opportunity to contribute to ways of working and help establish best practices.

Required skills and experience

  • Strong, hands‑on experience with Power BI development
  • Advanced capability in DAX, Power Query and data modelling
  • Proven experience delivering BI solutions within a structured IT environment
  • Strong SQL skills
  • Solid understanding of data warehousing and dimensional modelling

Additional strengths

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to present technical information clearly to non‑technical audiences
  • Experience working through full development lifecycles including testing and release processes

Desirable

  • Exposure to Cognos or similar legacy BI tools
  • Experience with Python or R
  • Knowledge of Agile delivery approaches
  • Understanding of data visualisation best practice and user experience principles

Working pattern

Hybrid working pattern with 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home.
