Lead on financial reporting and managing the audit.

Your new company

Working with a very well-established public sector organisation, they are continually evolving and embarking on some new exciting projects, including a systems review and update.

Your new role

Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will lead on financial reporting and ensure that financial information is accurate, timely and fully compliant between the main organisation and a subsidiary. It is a key role at the heart of our financial governance.

Financial Reporting & Control

  • Own the preparation of annual statutory financial statements, including group consolidation.
  • Ensure accounting policies, judgements and treatments are robust, consistent and compliant.
  • Oversee the Fixed Asset Register and capital accounting.
  • Provide authoritative technical accounting advice to senior leaders.

Governance & Compliance

  • Oversee VAT and taxation compliance, working with external advisers.
  • Strengthen internal controls and financial governance across the institution.

Audit & External Assurance

  • Act as the internal lead for external audit, managing the full audit cycle.
  • Track and drive implementation of audit recommendations.
  • Build strong, professional relationships with auditors and assurance partners.

What you'll need to succeed

  • You will be a confident, technically strong finance professional with the credibility to influence senior stakeholders and the judgement to safeguard financial integrity.
  • You will be CCAB-qualified accountant.
  • Significant experience preparing statutory accounts and working with external auditors.
  • Strong technical knowledge of financial reporting standards.
  • Deep understanding of financial governance, internal controls and compliance.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • A clear, confident communicator able to explain complex issues to non-finance colleagues.
  • Professional, detail-focused, resilient and collaborative.
