Long Term Futures is recruiting for a school within the DE23 area for a 1:1 SEND teaching assistant. In this role, it is essential to have experience supporting children with SEND within educational settings (care experience is also considered) and have an understanding of SEND strategies and behavioural techniques. The children you will be working with will either have learning disabilities, behavioural needs, and potentially working on an adapted curriculum. It is essential that you are positive, proactive, and empathetic.
About the role
- Working with high level SEND needs such as ASD, ADHD and SEMH within KS1/2 year groups
- Provide 1:1 support to students where needed with the possibility of working to an adapted curriculum
- Monitoring and feeding back on the children’s progress to provide cohesiveness.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- SEMH, SEND and behavioural support experience
- Able to work effectively within a team
- Positive, proactive and able to manage time effectively.
- Good communication skills
- The ability to promote independence and positive behaviour.
- Any relevant qualifications is helpful but not essential e.g. Team Teach, Manual Handling etc.
- Child Workforce DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for one.
- Able to commit to at least one academic year with possibility for an extension.
