This role is perfect for an SEN Teaching Assistant who enjoys a structured Monday to Friday routine and has experience supporting students with autism (ASD), social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, and speech and language challenges. This school is recognised for its nurturing, therapeutic approach and strong team ethos. Staff work collaboratively to create a positive environment where every SEN Teaching Assistant plays a vital role in building students' confidence, independence, and overall wellbeing. What you will do:
- Provide personalised 1:1 and small-group support tailored to individual learning needs
- Support pupils with communication strategies, sensory needs, and emotional regulation
- Use a calm, patient, and positive approach to manage behaviour effectively
- Work alongside the class teacher to maintain a structured and inclusive classroom
- Implement and follow Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) accurately
- Encourage independence, life skills, and active engagement in learning
Qualifications and requirements:
- Have recent experience working with children or young people with additional needs (school or care setting)
- Demonstrate a patient, flexible, and nurturing approach
- Have strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
- Hold the right to work in the UK
- Be able to meet GSL’s safer recruitment requirements
- Hold an Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one
