Timeplan is currently working with a large SEN school in Harrow, who are recruiting several child support workers to start ASAP. All positions are full-time long-term opportunities paid via the agency. The school caters for students aged 2-19 with an EHCP for PMLD, Autism (ASD) and complex needs. They have a strong academic focus; however, they also wish to develop students' independence in a fun and nurturing way.
Shortlisted candidates must have previous SEN experience, especially PMLD, complex needs and challenging behaviour. You will be working in a class of 4-6 pupils providing 1:1 support. Classes are generally formed based on age groups, however there will be varying abilities, with some students being non-verbal, therefore PECs and Makaton are desirable. There will also be personal care involved, so in-date manual handling training is required. Training in tracheostomy and PEG feeding is advantageous.
Successful applicants are caring, calm and pro-active with a keen interest in SEN. For the right person, the school will offer excellent pay rates and a state-of-the-art working environment.
