We are currently seeking an experienced and resilient Teaching Assistant to join a secondary SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Bolton, with an immediate start available. This role is ideal for someone who has a strong background working with young people who present with SEMH needs, and who is confident in supporting pupils with challenging behaviour in a structured and nurturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide in‑class support to students aged 11‑16 with SEMH needs.
- Work on a one‑to‑one and small group basis to support learning, engagement, and emotional regulation.
- Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored lessons and behaviour strategies.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to promote progress and wellbeing.
- Support the implementation of individual behaviour and support plans.
- De‑escalate challenging situations calmly and effectively.
Requirements
- Proven experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs.
