Support students with social, emotional, and mental health needs by helping them build confidence, resilience, and positive engagement with learning! GSL Education are hiring a committed SEMH Teaching Assistant to join schools in Walsall. The Social, Emotional, and Mental Health Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA) will work closely with pupils who require additional emotional and behavioural support, helping them succeed in a structured and nurturing educational environment.
Main Duties of SEMH TA:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH needs.
- Support behaviour management and implement de-escalation strategies.
- Encourage emotional regulation, confidence, and positive behaviour.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams.
- Assist students in engaging with classroom activities and routines.
- Maintain safeguarding procedures and contribute to a safe environment.
Requirements:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs.
- Calm, patient, and resilient approach.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to manage challenging situations effectively.
- Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
