We are currently seeking a passionate and resilient SEMH Teacher to join a specialist setting in the Wirral area supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a rewarding role for someone who thrives in a challenging but highly impactful environment. You will be working with pupils who may present with anxiety, trauma, behavioural needs and disengagement from education, helping them to re‑engage with learning in a structured and supportive way.
Responsibilities:
- Planning and delivering engaging, accessible lessons for pupils with SEMH needs
- Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour management strategies
- Building strong, trusting relationships to promote engagement and progress
- Adapting teaching approaches to meet individual learning needs
- Working closely with pastoral staff, SENCOs and external professionals
- Creating a safe, consistent and nurturing classroom environment
What we’re looking for:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or strong experience teaching SEMH pupils
- Experience working with SEMH, SEN or challenging behaviour
- Strong behaviour management and relationship‑building skills
- A calm, consistent and resilient teaching approach
- Passion for supporting vulnerable learners and improving outcomes
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service preferred - or happy to pay for a new DBS if required
