A renewable energy company advancing floating offshore wind technology, including a new innovative system for floating offshore wind turbine installation. This will enable predeployment of the mooring and cable system and subsequent rapid connection of the floating offshore wind turbine. As the global energy transition accelerates, my client is focused on delivering innovative, scalable solutions for deep-water wind projects.

I'm seeking an experienced, commercially driven Sales Director to lead business development and sales strategy within the floating offshore wind sector. With the system in the final stages of ABS certification and an inshore demonstration planned this year, this role will lead the sales effort to complete commercialisation. The role focuses on building market presence and converting opportunities into contracts for the product in floating offshore wind. The ideal candidate brings 10+ years experience across moorings and/or subsea cables, with the ability to translate engineering concepts into compelling client value propositions. Experience in offshore energy projects (oil and gas and/or offshore wind) is essential; exposure to floating wind is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement global sales strategies for floating offshore wind projects, with a focus on mooring and cable systems.
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities across developers, EPC contractors, and utilities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders in the offshore wind ecosystem.
  • Lead commercial negotiations and support contract development for large-scale projects.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and relevant regulatory developments across offshore wind, moorings, and subsea cables.
  • Collaborate with engineering and project teams to align front-end engineering with the technical solution and client requirements.
  • Prepare bids and proposals that clearly articulate technical differentiation and commercial value.
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing sales team (if applicable).
  • Drive a culture of performance, accountability, and collaboration.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • 10+ years experience in sales/business development, ideally with a subsea cable background to complement existing mooring expertise.
  • Proven track record in offshore energy or offshore wind, with exposure to floating wind projects.
  • Experience working with cable manufacturers, installers, or EPC contractors is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of subsea cable technologies (HVAC/HVDC, dynamic cables, installation methods).
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams to deliver compelling technical and commercial solutions to clients.
  • Familiarity with offshore project development cycles and procurement processes.
  • Excellent commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
  • Strong network within the offshore wind and cables industry.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, international environment.
  • Education in Engineering, Business, or related field (degree preferred).
