The selected Teacher of English will be responsible for delivering dynamic English lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, inspiring students to become confident readers, writers, and critical thinkers. The successful English Teacher will join a supportive and collaborative department that is passionate about fostering a lifelong appreciation for English literature and language.
As an English Teacher, you will be expected to:
- Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality English lessons to students across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
- Inspire a love of reading, writing, and literary analysis, encouraging students to explore a range of texts.
- Develop students’ skills in both creative and analytical writing, preparing them for GCSE and A-Level examinations.
- Assess, record, and report on student progress, providing constructive feedback to support improvement.
- Contribute to the development of the English curriculum and participate in departmental initiatives and events.
To be considered for this English Teacher role, the candidate must:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a specialism in English.
- Have experience teaching English at secondary school level, including Key Stage 4.
- Possess strong subject knowledge and a genuine passion for English literature and language.
- Have the right to work in the UK.
- Meet GSL's safer recruitment background checks.
- Have a Child Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.
- Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
