Experienced Compliance Officer required to oversee statutory compliance programmes across a residential housing portfolio, ensuring inspections, certification, and contractor performance remain fully compliant and audit ready. The role covers Fire, Gas, Electrical, Asbestos, Lifts, and Water Hygiene compliance, supporting resident safety, data integrity, regulatory reporting, and continuous improvement within Property Services.

This opportunity sits within a resident-focused housing organisation delivering housing management, repairs, and property services across a diverse residential portfolio in London. As part of continued investment within the Property Services function, the organisation is seeking an experienced Compliance Officer to support the delivery, monitoring, and assurance of statutory compliance programmes across the housing stock. The role plays a key part in ensuring all compliance activities are effectively managed, accurately recorded, and fully evidenced in line with regulatory obligations and internal governance requirements.

The successful candidate will support the operational delivery of compliance programmes across Fire, Lifts, Asbestos, Gas, Electrical, and Legionella (FLAGEL), ensuring contractor performance, data integrity, certification management, and resident coordination are maintained to a consistently high standard. Description
  • Develop and implement compliance policies and procedures for the construction department.
  • Monitor and evaluate regulatory changes to ensure ongoing adherence within the property sector.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Provide guidance and training to staff on compliance-related matters.
  • Investigate and resolve compliance-related issues or breaches promptly.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for all compliance activities.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies and ensure timely submission of required reports.
  • Support the development of a culture of compliance across the organisation.
Profile
  • Proven experience working within a property compliance, building compliance, or statutory compliance role, ideally within social housing or residential property management.
  • Strong experience managing compliance programmes across multiple statutory workstreams including Fire, Gas, Electrical, Water Hygiene, Lifts, and Asbestos.
  • Demonstrable experience maintaining compliance data systems, certification records, and audit-ready documentation.
  • Experience monitoring contractor performance against KPIs, service standards, and compliance obligations.
  • Good understanding of statutory compliance legislation and regulatory requirements within a housing environment.
  • Knowledge of compliance reporting, performance monitoring, and risk management processes.
  • Experience managing access processes and coordinating statutory inspections with residents and contractors.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify compliance risks, data inconsistencies, and service gaps.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to work collaboratively with residents, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple compliance workstreams within a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Strong written and analytical skills with experience producing compliance reports and performance commentary.
  • Proficient IT skills and experience working with compliance management systems, asset systems, or housing management platforms.
  • Qualification in Building, Construction, Property Maintenance, Compliance, Asset Management, or a related discipline (Level 3/4 or equivalent experience).
  • IOSH Managing Safely or similar health and safety training desirable.
  • Additional compliance-related qualifications or awareness training within Gas, Fire Safety, Electrical, Legionella, or Asbestos would be advantageous.
  • Professional membership or progression towards membership with CIH, CIOB, IWFM, or similar bodies would be beneficial.
