Suffolk Mind is seeking a Care Worker to join their friendly, supportive, award‑winning team where staff and residents' wellbeing truly comes first. The role is based in north Ipswich, Suffolk, where you will join our residential care team who have been rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission. This is a full time, permanent role, working 37 hours per week but will consider part time hours for the right candidate.

About the role:

We are looking for a compassionate and reliable Care Worker, who will work as part of a care team to support residents with long‑term mental and physical health needs, promoting independence and helping residents achieve their personal goals. As well as providing personal and emotional support, you will assist with daily living activities and mobility, administering medication, preparing meals, and encouraging participation in meaningful activities within the home and wider community. The role will be working on a seven‑week rolling rota, across shifts ranging from 6.5‑9 hours long between 07:30am and 22:00pm and across 7 days with at least one sleep‑in shift a week, which is agreed in advance.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Provide personal, emotional, and practical support to residents, including assistance with mobility and daily living activities.
  • Administer medication, follow care plans and risk assessments, and report safeguarding concerns appropriately.
  • Support residents to access healthcare services, community activities, and advocacy support to promote independence and wellbeing.
  • Maintain accurate records, update support plans, handle basic financial transactions, and use IT systems such as Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Work with colleagues and external professionals, participate in meetings and training, and carry out health and safety and domestic duties within the service.

About you:

As a Care Worker, you will have at least one year of experience working with people in a social care setting, with residential care experience being desirable. A Level 2 or 3 qualification in Health and Social Care, or an equivalent qualification, is also preferred. The role requires strong listening, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, along with the ability to build positive relationships with service users and colleagues.
