Key Responsibilities

  • Emergency Response: Act as a first responder to medical emergencies (Code Blue/Red) within the prison, providing immediate life-saving care.
  • Medication Management: Safely administer medications, including supervised dispensaries and substance misuse treatments, ensuring strict adherence to protocols.
  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with custodial staff, mental health teams, and substance misuse specialists to provide holistic patient care.
  • Security & Compliance: Maintain accurate electronic health records (e.g., SystmOne) while strictly adhering to prison security protocols and CQC standards.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Valid NMC Pin: Must be a Registered Adult Nurse (RGN) with current, unrestricted registration.
  • Prison Clearance: Must hold valid, active prison clearance (CTC or Enhanced Level 2/3) to work within the HMP estate.
  • Experience: Previous experience in secure environments, A&E, or urgent care is highly desirable.
  • Skills: Strong clinical decision-making skills and the ability to remain calm and effective under pressure in a high-security environment.
  • Compliance: Must have the right to work in the UK and undergo an Enhanced DBS check.
