The purpose of your role will be to support the Head of Compliance and wider compliance team, with a focus on packaging, sustainability, and supplier compliance.
Responsibilities include supporting packaging development and trials, ensuring packaging meets legal, quality, and environmental standards, and assisting with supplier compliance, documentation, and follow‑up actions.
- Support the selection of packaging materials and formats by ensuring compliance with customer, legal, and operational requirements, while identifying opportunities to improve functionality and reduce risk.
- Assist with packaging trials from planning through to execution, including data collection, analysis, reporting, and supporting scale‑up to production.
- Ensure compliance with UK and EU regulations, retailer and company standards, and sustainability objectives, including recyclability and plastics reduction initiatives.
- Maintain accurate packaging specifications, compliance records, audit documentation, and system data across internal and external platforms.
- Work closely with internal teams and the Supplier Assurance Manager to support supplier compliance, audits, Approved Supplier List management, and the implementation of packaging requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying efficiencies, supporting projects, and assisting with compliance training and wider process improvement activities.
The successful candidate shall possess a food science degree or related subject. A packaging related degree or similar would be advantageous.
Experience working in food manufacturing, FMCG, or packaging environments and an understanding of food safety standards.
A clean driver’s license and the ability to travel across the UK and European travel as and when required.
The Packaging Compliance Assistant job is paying £39,000 according to your experience. The package includes a bonus of up to 10%, based on both the achievement of personal (40%) and company (60%) objectives. Pension with 6% employer contributions, Private medical, Death in service, Income Protection, 26 days holiday and flexitime. The working hours are Monday to Friday, Office hours / 2 days WFH. The site is in Surrey and is commutable from Crawley, Dorking, Redhill, Reigate, Croydon, Tonbridge, Sevenoaks and surrounding towns.
