A specialist mental health school in Reading is seeking a Criminology Graduate to join their team as soon as possible, as a Learning Support Assistant. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with students who face a range of social, emotional and mental health challenges, including trauma, anxiety, depression, PTSD, attachment needs, and low self-esteem. Your role will be crucial in helping them navigate the school day, providing academic guidance and therapeutic support.
Your daily duties will include:
- Working 1:1 and in small groups with vulnerable students.
- Learning and implementing a trauma-informed, therapeutic approach within the classroom.
- Helping students build confidence, resilience and emotional regulation skills.
- Tutoring students in key subject areas, particularly where they are less confident.
- Collaborating with Teachers, Therapists and other support staff.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a graduate looking to build hands-on experience in a mental health and behavioural setting. The school is seeking a graduate who is confident, proactive, with a calm and supportive outlook. Previous experience working with children and/or vulnerable individuals would be beneficial, but not essential.
Location: Reading
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm
Salary: £90 - £100 per day
