Responsibilities- Lead the mechanical design of high voltage electric motors for automotive applications
- Be responsible for thermal performance and physical integration of the motors
- Support the delivery of motors into production (DFM / DFA)
The company is involved with the design of HV electric motor drive systems for automotive applications. They require an experienced mechanical design engineer with strong hands-on design capabilities to enable the delivery of electric motors from concept to series production.
Skills / Knowledge Required- A degree or higher in a relevant field (e.g. mechanical engineering, automotive engineering)
- At least 5-6 years of relevant design experience aligned to electric motors / electric machines
- Capable with employing thermal management strategies (e.g., air or liquid cooling of motors)
- Experience of taking electric motor designs through to validated prototype stage or ideally into manufacture
- Good experience with DFM / DFA for complex electromechanical devices (e.g., motors)
- Excellent problem solving and failure analysis skills (e.g., FMEA)
- Able to work effectively in a small team environment
- Experience of devising test and validation processes for electric machines or similar
- Experience of prototype build and test would be very useful
- Ability to travel to meet customer needs would be advantageous
