HAYS is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to join a large SSC environment. The role is ideal for a confident payroll professional who can lead a high‑performing team and embed themselves into a fast‑paced environment, ensuring accurate, compliant payroll processing.
Responsibilities
- Provide a high level of service to internal employees while maintaining day‑to‑day operations.
- Manage end‑to‑end payroll cycles, processing weekly, fortnightly, lunar and monthly payrolls, ensuring accuracy and adherence to client deadlines.
- Handle statutory payment calculations and adjustments including SSP, SMP, SPP, etc.
- Process complex payments and manage a high volume payslip count, circa 10,000 plus.
- Calculate and process adjustments, holiday pay, bonuses, overtime, and salary changes.
- Ensure correct treatment of starters, leavers, P45/P46 starter checklists, and RTI submissions.
- Manage a team of 5-8, coaching and supporting their learning and development.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a UK payroll management position.
- Experience managing and coaching a team, supporting their learning and development.
- Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and HMRC requirements.
- Experience using payroll systems such as Sage, ADP, Workday, or similar.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Immediate or short‑notice availability.
