This progressive opportunity invites you to join a leading general practice located in the heart of Preston as an accounts and audit senior. With over 20 years of experience in the market, the firm offers specialist services in accounts, audit, tax, payroll, VAT, business start‑ups and more to a variety of clients.

About the firm

The portfolio covers all industries and sizes, typically sole traders, limited companies, partnerships, charities and HNWI, who are supported on both local and nationwide scales. The practice is growing consistently with new business and healthy internal growth.

Role responsibilities

  • You will take a lead within the general practice team, overseeing junior members beneath you while reporting into managers and partners, updating them regularly.
  • Day‑to‑day duties include preparing and reviewing both management and statutory accounts for the client portfolio described above.
  • Leading audit assignments, leading juniors on fieldwork, testing and completion stages, completing VAT returns, corporation tax and tax computations.
  • Overseeing the team and managing day‑to‑day activities to ensure the success of the team.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience within an accountancy practice.
  • ACCA or ACA qualified, or qualified by experience; finalist level candidates are also considered.
  • Experience and competence in utilising accounting software such as Xero, Sage or QuickBooks.
  • Competence working on each stage of an audit, whilst also preparing statutory accounts.
  • Experience leading a team, training juniors or reviewing work.
