My client is a well-established groundworks and civils company based in Northamptonshire that works in and around the Midlands and Home Counties. They are continually growing and are looking to add a Plant Manager to their ever-growing team.

BASIC SALARY: up to £70,000 - dependent upon experience

BENEFITS: Bonus, Company Van

LOCATION: Northampton

COMMUTABLE LOCATIONS: Peterborough, Bedford, Milton Keynes, Northampton, Leicester, Cambridge, Huntingdon

Job Description

As the Plant Manager, you will:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the plant yard, including company vans and all plant machinery.
  • Organise plant machinery, tools, and equipment for site deliveries and returns.
  • Ensure all plant equipment is maintained, serviced, and inspected regularly.
  • Coordinate with site teams and drivers regarding plant availability and logistics.
  • Maintain accurate records of plant movements, servicing, and inventory.
  • Ensure Health & Safety procedures are always followed within the yard.
  • Supervise yard staff and allocate tasks as required.
  • Buy plant.

They would look at someone running a plant hire desk or similar, who wants to step up but would need all the attributes that are stated below in the person specifics.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will be responsible for all plant machinery and fleet within the business.
  • Line manage a team of mechanical fitters.
  • You will have accountability to the senior management team.
  • Coordinate all plant and heavy machinery for multiple UK sites.

Person Specification

  • You must have ran a fleet and plant or hire desk - in construction or civils.
  • You must have purchasing experience of plant and fleet vehicles for construction or civils companies.
  • You will have experience managing maintenance and service teams.
  • Ideally, you will be within a commutable distance of Northamptonshire.

My client is a large civils and groundworks company predominately working in the residential housing sector. It is highly likely you will have worked in any of the following roles and/or markets, and worked with the following products and/or services: Plant Manager, Fleet Manager, Plant Operations Manager – plant, civils, hire, groundworks, maintenance, mechanical, digger, dumper, ADT machine, roller, construction.
