Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 + Overtime + Company Vehicle + Benefits

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mobile Plant Mechanic to join a busy and growing engineering operation covering Barking and the surrounding areas. This role would suit somebody with a strong background within plant hire, heavy plant, construction equipment, agricultural machinery or powered access equipment who enjoys working in a field-based position.

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out servicing, diagnostics, maintenance and repairs on a wide range of plant and hire equipment across customer sites and depots, ensuring machinery is maintained to a high operational and safety standard.

Responsibilities

  • Carrying out servicing, maintenance and repairs on plant and hire equipment at customer sites
  • Diagnosing faults across mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems
  • Completing planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
  • Responding to breakdowns and carrying out reactive repairs
  • Conducting inspections and pre-delivery inspections (PDIs)
  • Completing service reports and associated paperwork accurately
  • Maintaining company vehicle, tools and equipment to a high standard
  • Liaising directly with customers and maintaining strong working relationships
  • Ensuring all work is completed in line with company health & safety procedures

Requirements

  • Previous experience within plant hire, heavy plant or construction equipment industries
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding ability
  • Good knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems
  • Ability to work independently in a mobile field-based role
  • Strong customer-facing communication skills
  • Full UK Driving Licence essential
  • Relevant engineering qualifications advantageous (NVQ, City & Guilds, Plant Maintenance etc.)
