Learning Support Assistant – SEN School, Brockenhurst / Lymington area

Full‑time, Temporary to Permanent contract – ASAP start!

Academics is seeking an experienced and engaging Learning Support Assistant for an SEN School in the New Forest area between Brockenhurst and Lymington. This is a full‑time, temporary to permanent contact starting ASAP. Working hours are 8:30 am – 4:30 pm Monday‑Thursday and 8:30 am – 4:00 pm Friday. This term‑time role covers 39 weeks of the year, paying £13.68 per hour.

Qualifications

  • Minimum C/4 in English and Maths GCSE (evidence required)
  • Experience supporting children with special educational needs, ideally within an SEN environment

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils aged 7‑19 diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome and other associated needs on the autistic spectrum
  • Work with pupils in small groups and on a one‑to‑one basis across the school
  • Be empathetic, nurturing, manage varying levels of challenging behaviour and adapt to situations as they arise
  • Collaborate with senior leaders, teachers and support staff and participate in necessary training
