Location: London Cumberland

Role Purpose

To effectively develop new packaging development materials for multiple customer and category projects, to deliver development and innovation in packaging, optimisation that supports commercial (Greencore & Customers) and ESG targets. To deliver new packaging formats across relevant product portfolios, customers and substrates to enable Greencore to continue to lead the industry in food packaging innovation. To ensure packaging projects are aligned to the internal Portfolio Manufacturing sector needs and projects are delivered on time to the required standard.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop and deliver innovative packaging solutions from concept through to launch, aligned to customer briefs and project timelines.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, NPD, and cross-functional teams to ensure packaging is technically sound, commercially viable, and operationally feasible.
  • Lead packaging activity in project meetings, managing stakeholders, tracking progress, and mitigating risks.
  • Support customer engagement and innovation sessions through compelling presentations, samples, and mock-ups.
  • Ensure all packaging meets regulatory, quality, food safety, and sustainability standards.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activity to inform forward-thinking packaging strategies.
  • Drive best practice processes, influence stakeholders, and ensure efficient, effective ways of working.
  • Manage cost inputs and supplier relationships to deliver value-driven and innovative packaging solutions.

What we're looking for

  • Graduate calibre, with at least two years served within the food packaging industry.
  • Enjoys the challenge of working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Analytical; experienced in requesting and reviewing packaging costings.
  • Strong customer service values and a keen sense of urgency with the ability to think on your feet.
  • An effective communicator with good presentation skills.
  • Creative, enjoys colour and graphic design, comfortable in relevant packages eg Illustrator, Adobe Suite etc.
  • Technically confident knowledge in at least one substrate field relevant to food manufacturing e.g. rigid and flexible plastics.
  • Able to produce mock ups and have complete confidence as an illustrator to convey your ideas when briefing suppliers.
