The predicted salary is between 70000 - 84000 £ per year.

The purpose of this job is to be responsible for processing planning applications for the council's own developments, minerals extraction and waste management developments and providing related pre‑application engagement including preparation of Screening and Scoping Opinions.

As Planning Officer, the post holder will be accountable for the following activities:

  • Responsibility for processing a caseload of development proposals in accordance with service delivery requirements, including planning applications, discharge of conditions, pre‑application enquiries and amendment applications;
  • Evaluate and make sound recommendations on the planning merits of development proposals that are allocated to a level of complexity commensurate with the planning officer role;
  • Providing guidance, advice and support to contribute to a high‑quality service that delivers value for money for its customers in line with legislative requirements and the council's policies and practices;
  • Working with the team to deliver relevant parts of the Service Plan.
