Responsibilities:
- Examine patients’ eyes, assess vision, and provide advice on visual problems as well as prescribing and fitting spectacles or contact lenses when needed.
- Diagnose sight problems such as nearsightedness or farsightedness and manage related conditions.
- Provide treatment such as contact lenses or glasses.
- Inform patients and explain how to take care of their eyes.
- Educate on how to clean and wear contact lenses.
- Collaborate with other medical practitioners and share care for patients with chronic ophthalmic conditions.
- Undertake continuing education and training.
- Manage staff, including dispensing opticians and clerical staff.
- Administer, organize and plan the development of the practice.
- Coordinate with sales representatives from vision care product suppliers.
- Provide prompt and courteous service to members, employees and vendors at all times.
Qualifications:
- Hold an Optometry degree approved by the GOC.
- Service-oriented with a track record of going the extra mile.
- Energetic and familiar with working in a fast-paced environment.
