A Toolmaker opportunity has become available within a well-established precision engineering business supplying complex components into demanding manufacturing sectors. This role will support tooling, grinding and toolroom activities across production, ensuring high-quality tooling and precision parts are delivered to tight tolerances and production deadlines.
Toolmaker responsibilities:
- Operating surface, universal and jig grinding machines to manufacture and maintain precision tooling and components.
- Producing spare parts, regrinding tooling and supporting preventative maintenance activities across the toolroom.
- Supporting production teams with tooling issues, repairs and continuous improvement activities.
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings to ensure components meet required specifications and tolerances.
- Maintaining high standards of quality, housekeeping and safety within the toolroom environment.
- Supporting apprentices and sharing knowledge across the wider engineering team.
Toolmaker desirable skills and experience:
- Previous experience within a Toolmaker, Grinder or Precision Tooling role.
- Strong background operating grinding machinery within a precision engineering environment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation.
- Experience working to tight tolerances and demanding production targets.
- Knowledge of milling, turning and general toolroom machinery.
- EDM, CAD or progression press tool experience would be advantageous.
