What you'll be doing:
- Take full control and responsibility for the transport function across Nottinghamshire (with scope to support any future wider East Treatment region), ensuring an efficient, reliable service delivered Monday to Friday.
- Ensure full compliance with Operator's Licence requirements, transport legislation and Veolia internal procedures, maintaining strong governance across all transport activities.
- Manage fleet maintenance to achieve best value while remaining fully legally compliant, overseeing maintenance standards, schedules and performance.
- Work closely with contract finance teams to produce and contribute to financial management information, including monthly profit and loss reporting, accurate forecasting and involvement in CAPEX planning.
- Liaise with local regulatory bodies (including the EA, HSE and Transport Ministry) and ensure all associated obligations are met and evidenced.
- Line manage the transport team, handling recruitment, performance management/appraisals and disciplinary processes where required.
- Attend meetings as needed and provide cover for the General Manager in their absence.
- Regularly challenge existing practices, embedding review processes and a continuous improvement culture to drive efficiency and effective service delivery.
What we're looking for:
- An experienced Transport Manager with a strong understanding of operating waste management transport/services and the day-to-day realities of running a compliant, high-performing fleet.
- A valid Transport Manager CPC (essential).
- Solid working knowledge of relevant transport, Health & Safety and environmental legislation, with the confidence to implement controls and maintain compliance.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to lead, motivate and inspire teams, manage people processes effectively, and act on your own initiative to solve problems and improve performance.
