I am currently on the lookout for an enthusiastic and experienced Ecologist with a strong background in botany and Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) to join a friendly team in Nottingham. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, helping to deliver high-quality ecological advice and measurable biodiversity outcomes across the East Midlands.

Requirements

  • 3+ years consultancy experience
  • Relevant degree e.g. Ecology, Zoology, Environmental Conservation
  • Experienced in protected species surveys e.g Bat, GCN etc
  • Good knowledge of UKHat and relevant ecological legislation and planning policy
  • Strong botanical identification skills
  • A full UK driving license
  • FISC accreditation (desirable but not necessary)

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertaking habitat surveys and botanical assessments
  • Leading and supporting Biodiversity Net Gain assessments and reporting
  • Calculating biodiversity units using the statutory biodiversity metric
  • Delivering Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs) and ecological impact assessments
  • Supporting habitat creation, restoration and enhancement design
  • Project management
