Hays Belfast are recruiting a Site Manager for a large and well‑established main contractor with over 40 years' experience, headquartered in County Down. The company has developed an impressive portfolio of projects across the Education, Healthcare, Sport & Leisure, Retail, Commercial, Arts & Culture, Residential, Ecclesiastical, Transport and Tourism sectors. Operating across both public and private markets, this main contractor is known for delivering high‑quality, design‑and‑build projects to excellent standards. With continued growth across Ireland, they are now seeking a driven and experienced Site Manager to join their team on a flagship £36m new‑build school project based in County Antrim.

Responsibilities

  • Take full responsibility for the day‑to‑day management of site operations on a major education project in Antrim.
  • Lead all site activity, coordinating subcontractors, managing programme delivery, controlling quality, and ensuring the highest standards of health and safety are maintained throughout the build.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager, commercial team and subcontractors to ensure the project is delivered safely, on time, and to specification.
  • Manage site activities, sequencing work, and driving programme performance.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, labour and materials.
  • Ensure compliance with H&S, environmental and quality standards.
  • Chair site meetings and liaise with design teams and stakeholders.
  • Monitor quality construction and ensure “Right First Time” delivery.
  • Manage inspections, snagging, and project close‑out.

Qualifications

  • Experienced Site Manager with a strong background in new‑build construction, ideally within the education or public‑sector environment.
  • Proven experience managing large‑scale building projects as Site Manager.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage subcontractors and direct labour.
  • Excellent knowledge of health & safety, quality assurance, and site controls.
  • Experience delivering projects through to practical completion and handover.
  • SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid (or equivalent).
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
